The Location

The Chateau is only 25 minutes from the heart of Downtown Portland in Oregon City. This venue is ideal for couples searching for something close to the city’s happenings but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. 

The castle-like home was built as a heritage property and used mainly for large family gatherings. This romantic oasis spans 135 acres of pristine land initially used as a berry farm and cattle ranch. 

Now, the family plans to open its castle doors for couples to plan their dream wedding at this romantic European venue. 

Chateau De Lis Interior: European-Style Castle Venue

The Chateau De Lis architecture is unlike any venue in Portland with its arched windows, steeply pitched roof, and 300-year-old castle feel. 

It was constructed with incredible craftsmanship, quality, and old-world charm to emulate an authentic European castle. The goal was to make visitors feel as if you just stepped off the plane in Europe without the plane ride. 

The castle includes six themed rooms for couples to explore. Couples can choose to rent out a suite the night before or after their wedding to complete the romantic, fairytale experience. 

Additionally, the Chateau features a full muraled dining room and a great room with a walk-in fireplace. Beautiful stone flooring spans the entire venue, adding to the luxurious experience for couples and their guests. 

The Venue Scenery and Surroundings

As if the interior of this venue wasn’t incredible enough, the Chateau’s intricate landscaping and surroundings are even more breathtaking. Its 135 acres of scenery whisks you away to the European countryside, but with an Oregon twist. 

Its exterior boasts immaculate stonework, matching the craftsmanship of its interior. There are plenty of outdoor patio areas for couples and guests to enjoy on beautiful Oregon days.

Couples can enjoy beautiful views and Oregon sunsets on the limestone terrace. Or stroll across the stone bridge spanning the surrounding moat. There’s certainly no shortage of places to explore around the Chateau De Lis.

Surrounding the venue, you’ll discover a large garden and patio area. This is a perfect setting for guests to mingle during cocktail hour or an outdoor reception area. 

Its grounds also include a large pool for cooling off in the summertime and multiple water fountains for relaxing background noise during an intimate first look. 

Due east of the Chateau is a three-acre lake surrounded by a mature Douglas Fir grove. Newlyweds can relax and share a romantic moment at the dreamy lakeside gazebo.
